Good for her (I think... It's a man's world, after all, isn't it). But our society is sick.

"Holy crap, I used to be the King of Town, you know, the fucking King man, and now they're all after me: the girls's boyfriends (and you know what fine gentlemen they usually are), my former partners, all of them. And they have connections, you know. They know a made man or two, holy shit, I'm not crapping you..."

Guess who's the character involved in this little story and you win a platinum 1 tera iPod with diamonds.

Great pics from the Venus Fair by our friend Maxxx. Just one question: what did she win, exactly? And for what?!

Btw, I'm definitely impressed by Italian (?) newcummer Sofia Gucci, who was also attending the Fair (Nop was obviously too busy chasing his girlfriends around).

Who's the little street urchin (and Keira look-a-like) who's scoring drugs in the London Underground and then falls asleep in a subway car with ants walking on her? There's a hooded creature stalking her and something very dark is obviously going on.
One of the most haunting songs of all time, UNKLE's "Be There", penned by DJ Shadow and sung by the King of Apes.

"If you are familiar with my Facts section, you might recall that I have one feature I don't like on me: my tits. Well, not anymore. Here's my official announcement: I underwent a breast enhancement operation lately. But don't worry, I didn't overdo it... just wanted a bit rounder ones."

The only other Czech girl present there was Claudia Claire. Jennifer introduced me to her and they were happy to chat together in their native language. For her show, Claudia was disguised as a vampire, complete with false teeth and blood. Music was Genesis hit of the eighties "Mama", sung by Phil Collins.

However, I was happy to meet Jennifer Stone again. Every day, she was doing two strip-tease shows. After the first day and seeing the other girls shows, she was unhappy with her outfit and she decided to buy something new in one of the sexshops of the festival. I helped her choosing a policewoman costume. Also, she finally overcame her shyness and picked up a guy from the audience. Of course, she liked it. So her shows were getting hotter every day and in the end she was even letting guys rub sun cream on her tits and ass then spank her!

Music theme for her strip-tease show was Grace Jones famous cover hit of Edith Piaf "La vie en rose" which suits perfectly the sensuality of Jennifer. More photos and videos on her official website.

This second edition of Lisboa erotic festival was a bit disappointing for me because of the lack of eurobabes. For example, I was expecting to see the Playboy covergirl from the image on the right but in the end I was unlucky. She was everywhere on posters but while the manager of her stand assured me she would be there the day after, she never showed up.

The only stand filled with pornostars was IFG with Spanish girls of course plus one French girl and only one Czech.

Robin Holcomb, Wayne Horvitz & Bill Frisell, Going Going Gone
This one comes from the beautiful "Rubaiyat: Elektra's 40th Anniversary" and it's obviously a Dylan cover, played by NYC's finest. Love's over and there's no reason to stay, just the ugly truth, gone is the happy-go-lucky hobo philosophy of "Don't think twice, it's alright". It's over, and the road can no longer cure all evil.
And then there's Frisell's solo, and words fail me. It's complex and long, full of overdubs, and it sounds like five different people are playing at the same time. One of Bill's rare forays into mainstream and a brush with the devine.

Squeeze, Can Of Worms
Oh, how I love this song. The good old Squeeze... Difford/Tillbrook = Lennon/McCartney? Squeeze were the good guys, kind of pop heroes. In this vignette Glenn describes his life as a "substitute dad on alernative weekends", and it's so sweet to hear him sing: "So to the park to play on the swings/To give their mother a break/When I saw their father walking down the path/Heading down towards the gate/I froze on the spot, heart in my throat/I hoped he’d not see us there/He soon disappeared and the kids on the slide/Were happy and unaware".

Prefab Sprout, Nancy
Paddy, Paddy... you're an old boy now. We're both old now, actually. But back then songs like Nancy would make me cry like a fountain.

Deacon Blue, Chocolate Girl
Deacon Blue. It doesn't get more uncool than this, despite the gloomy Glasgow on the cover and the fact that Ricky Ross is such a nice fella. But this is so fucking moving! You know, Alan doesn’t understand her, he only thinks in numbers... "He calls her the chocolate girl/'cause he thinks she melts when he touches her/She knows she's the chocolate girl/'cause she's broken up and swallowed/And wrapped in bits of silver".

Andy Pawlak, You And Me
Ah, the long forgotten Any Pawlak. For everyone who has ever loved "Steve McQueen".

Todd Rundgren, Izzat Love?
Yes, that guy from that 70's Show and Almost Famous. The maverick genius, the superstar producer and Liv Tyler's legal father for almost a decade. A wizard and a true star. "Todd" is not his most famous album but it still includes a few classic ballds, like "A Dream Goes On Forever" and this quirky and sweet "Izzat Love?"

XTC, That's Really Super, Supergirl
5.000 XTC fans can't be wrong. And they will all tell you that "Skylarking" is the best album of all time. Of all fucking time, past, present and future. And of course they're right. Skylarking is like a magical mystery tour of weirdness and beauty: images straight out of Yellow Submarine, Beach Boys harmonies, life, death, God and DC heroes and heroines.
A despotic producer (Rundgren), a strained relationship with their label (Virgin), the remote (and scary) chance of some commercial recognition = masterpiece. "That's really super Supergirl/How you saved yourself in seconds flat/And your friends are going to say/That's really super Supergirl".

Teenage Fanclub, Ain't That Enough
Ok, I'm cheating, TFC have legions of devoted fans and this is probably one of their most popular songs. Anyway. During their career the three "ageing fanboys" have namechecked their heroes over and over again (and again and again). In this case, they don't need to. It's all there, in that guitar sound and in those harmonies: the september gurls, the wild wild horses, Gene, Gram and Uncle Alex, true as a clear northern sky.

And that's all, boys and girls.
I had to play football for the coach...

Manic Street Preachers, If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next
Post-"Everything Must Go" Manics. Inspired by Orwell and the Civil War: "So if I can shoot rabbits/Then I can shoot fascists".

Robert Wyatt, Shipbuilding
Elvis Costello writes this song for Robert Wyatt. And the man delivers it with his trademark melanchonic drawl. Mournfully quiet. But passionate at the same time. The song is about the Falklands War, but from the perspective of the British shipbuilders and war itself is hardly mentioned: "Within weeks they'll be re-opening the shipyards/And notifying the next of kin". So beautiful that Costello had to re-record it, adding Chet Baker's trumpet.

Scritti Politti, The Sweetest Girl
Yes, Scritti Politti. Did you know that their crazy name comes from Antonio Gramsci's "Scritti Politici"? Apparently, The Sweetest Girl is not even a political song. But it is, you know: "The weakest link in every chain/I always want to find it/The strongest words in each belief/Find out what's behind it". Wyatt plays percussion. It's Green's finest moment.

The Clash, Washington Bullets
As every cell in Chile will tell/The cries of the tortured men/Remember Allende and the days before/Before the army came/Please remember Victor Jara/In the Santiago Stadium/Es verdad - those Washington Bullets again". Sandinista! The Clash's most direct potical song. Some things have changed, Joe is not with us anymore. But some things have obviously stayed the same.

Neil Young, Powderfinger
The Weld version, with Crazy Horse and ten minutes of angry feedback: "Shelter me from the powder and the finger/Cover me with the thought that pulled the trigger/Think of me as one you'd never figured/Would fade away so young/With so much left undone/Remember me to my love,/I know I'll miss her."

Public Enemy, By The Time I Get To Arizona
I could have picked Chuck D's whole catalog: "This is Sister Souljah. Public Enemy, Security of the First World, and all aligned forces are traveling west to head off a white supremacy scheme to destroy the national celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King's birthday. Public Enemy believes that the powers that be in the states of New Hampshire and Arizona have found psychological discomfort in paying tribute to a black man who tried to teach white people the meaning of civilization. Good luck brothers! Show 'em what you got."

Saul Williams & Coldcut, Not in My Name
"Not in our name
will you wage endless war
there can be no more deaths
no more transfusions
of blood for oil
Not in our name
will you invade countries
bomb civilians, kill more children
letting history take its course
over the graves of the nameless"
ANOTHER WORLD IS POSSIBLE.

Bob Dylan, Chimes Of Freedom
"Tolling for the rebel, tolling for the rake/Tolling for the luckless, the abandoned an' forsaked/Tolling for the outcast, burnin' constantly at stake/.../Tolling for the searching ones, on their speechless, seeking trail/For the lonesome-hearted lovers with too personal a tale/An' for each unharmfull, gentle soul misplaced inside a jail/AN' WE GAZED UPON THE CHIMES OF FREEDOM FLASHING."
